Matching Your Underwear To Your Outerwear
While underwear as outerwear has a habit of hitting the catwalks and fashion pages every now and then, the majority of the time the last thing you want is for your underwear to be more noticeable than your outfit. There's nothing that can ruin a glamorous party look faster than a misplaced or miscoloured bra strap. Don't worry though, these days you're not restricted to the same limited number of underwear options you might have been in the past. The choice of lingerie out there is astounding, meaning that there will always be the ideal item to match your favourite outfit - as long as you spend a little time browsing.
Co-ordinating your underwear with your outerwear starts with the colours. Obviously wearing a white bra with a black dress isn't going to do anyone any favours, especially if you happen to end up somewhere with UV lights! Sometimes, however, it's just not possible to match the colour of your underwear with your top or dress, mainly because, while the range of colours and styles of lingerie are extensive, the number of different colours of tops and dresses are even more so. When you can't find the exact colour you need for a match, go the opposite way and dare to bare with contrasting or complementary choices. For example, a turquoise bra with a purple jumper or a yellow slip under a blue shirt can look great.
The other important thing to consider when sorting out your lingerie is what you want your underwear to do for you on that particular occasion. There are plenty of underwear options that are great for slimming your silhouette or for sucking in wobbly bits and these are great when you're wearing party clothes, however they may not be the best choice for a jeans and T-shirt combination. Then you might be better off with cotton or brightly coloured choices. On the other hand, for the times that you want your lingerie to be almost invisible, there are plenty of nude or even translucent options.
